What is the Halo laser treatment?

Halo is the only laser treatment that combines ablative and nonablative fractional skin treatments. Halo gives you the best of both. If you’ve got sun spots, wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, rough skin texture, poor skin tone, or other issues related to aging or sun damage, Halo can be a great solution.

How does Halo treatment work?

You'll wear tiny protective goggles while the laser's at work. Your provider at Bopp Dermatology & Facial Plastic Surgery typically applies a light layer of numbing cream to keep you comfortable during treatment. The two lasers work in synergy to revitalize your aging or sun-damaged skin.

The ablative laser

The ablative fractional laser wavelength resurfaces your epidermis, essentially vaporizing your top layer of the skin without affecting your dermis below it. This part of the treatment reduces the appearance of sun spots, improves skin texture, and evens skin tone.

The nonablative laser

The nonablative fractional laser wavelength causes controlled injury by heating the dermis. This triggers new collagen and elastin growth in your dermis, which helps smooth and tighten your skin.

Throughout the procedure, your internal and external skin temperature is closely monitored to ensure that you reach the optimal temperature for new collagen growth. The Advanced Air Cooling System cools your skin throughout the Halo treatment to keep you comfortable.

What is recovery after Halo laser treatment like?

Halo offers fast healing: 5-7 days. Most patients are able to return to work within a couple of days. Older laser treatments may require weeks of downtime, but Halo was specially designed to give you maximum results with minimum downtime.

Around 2-3 days post-treatment, your skin darkens a bit, and then you'll typically peel around Day 3 or 4. This reveals the smooth new skin below. You'll notice further steady improvement as your new collagen plumps and firms your skin over the next few months.

How many Halo laser treatments do I need?

If your main concern is mild sun damage, you might need just 1-2 sessions. If you've got deeper lines and wrinkles along with sun damage, you might benefit from three or more treatment sessions. Your Bopp Dermatology & Facial Plastic Surgery provider will work with you to help you get the stunning results you want.
